Robert J. Sawyer Party – Sat, Feb 11, 2008

Below you can see a picture of myself and Canadian SF writer – Robert J. Sawyer. Rob and his wife Carolyn graciously opened up their home to their many friends, fans and fellow writers this past weekend. We all oogled his numerous writing awards, including a Hugo and a Nebula amongst many others plus marvelled at all his wonderful toys. Behind us you may have noticed a rather famous starship.

If not, here is a clearer picture:

The beautiful painting on the wall is the book cover from one of Rob’s books – Far-Seer.

It was great meeting up with old and new acquaintances and I look forward to seeing them at Ad Astra 2008 coming up in March.

Rob and Carolyn were most generous hosts – so thanks to the both of you!

Thanks for the pix. It’s cool that Rob has that painting for his home.
I was sorry that Suzanne missed the party. Unfortunately, although we have lots of rockets locally, we have only one published SF author that I know of and if he entertains, I’m not on his list, sigh.
    What weekend is Ad Astra?

Hi there! Great to hear from you! Ad Astra is the last weekend in March 28th – 30th.
Here’s the link to all the details:
Are you thinking of coming up?

Thanks for the link to Ad Astra. I’ve been toying with the idea of coming to the Con, but work and budgetary timing and constraints may interfere. Kevin Anderson gave an impressive talk for writers at last year’s DragonCon (that I missed, the talk, not the convention). I would like very much to attend some panels/workshops by him and RM. Just at the thinking-about-it stage for now, although I shouldn’t think about it for too long if I’m going to get decent airfare, not to mention a hotel room.
(I call her “Zed” for her strange spelling of her name) always speaks so highly of the Con!

OK – I’ll keep my fingers crossed!
